You have the convenience of taking this test from the comfort of your own home, eliminating the need to visit a test center.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, many regular IELTS tests have been postponed. However, IELTS has introduced a new online English language test called IELTS Indicator, specifically designed for those who are currently unable to take the regular test.
The IELTS Indicator test assesses all four language skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Qualified IELTS examiners mark the test, and you can expect to receive your results within 7 days. Your scores will be provided for each section as well as an overall score.
Universities may consider your conditional application based on your IELTS Indicator score. However, it’s important to note that not all organizations accept this test, so it’s advisable to check with your education provider before booking.
Now, let’s explore how the test works. You can complete the test from the comfort of your home; there’s no need to visit a test center. All you need is a quiet space and a laptop or desktop computer. Please note that the test is compatible with PCs and Macs, but not with phones or tablets. Additionally, ensure you have a stable internet connection, a functioning microphone, and either speakers or a set of headphones.
Keep in mind that the test is strictly timed, and you cannot pause it or return to it later. Plan to allocate approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections.
The Speaking test is conducted separately through a video call with an IELTS Examiner.
