IELTS Case Study – Band 7 in Just 1 Month

Let’s take a look at the background of a hypothetical student named Ridhima Khanna. Ridhima works as an Assistant General Manager and decided to take the IELTS exam with the goal of immigrating to either Canada or Australia. She aimed to achieve a high band score to fulfill the eligibility criteria for immigration. Being a married woman with responsibilities, she preferred online classes to have the flexibility to manage her time between home and work.

Course Objective

Ridhima enrolled in a one-month course with UFaber and attended online classes through Skype. While her ultimate aim was to achieve a band score of 7 and above, it was essential for her to meet the minimum requirement of 6.5 in each module of the IELTS exam. This was her first time taking the IELTS exam and participating in online training.

Her course followed the sequence of listening, reading, and writing, with speaking being practiced in every session. Mock tests were conducted, and additional study materials were provided for her reference and self-study.

Strategy Implementation

Ridhima displayed strong English skills and showed consistent improvement in all the modules. Although she initially found the listening module challenging, she quickly adapted and made progress. Ridhima thoroughly enjoyed the reading module and practiced it with enthusiasm. She received feedback on her writing to meet the exam requirements, and she was regularly informed about important aspects to consider during the exam. Ridhima performed well in mock tests and found her training sessions enjoyable to the extent that she wished to continue taking classes even after completing her course. She believed that the training helped her enhance various skills applicable to professional communication in her daily life.

Ridhima’s Results

Upon receiving her results, Ridhima was pleased to achieve an overall band score of 7.0. This score met the requirements for her immigration program, which made her highly satisfied with her accomplishment.
