IELTS Speaking Part 2 is a segment where the examiner will provide you with some time to prepare on a given topic, and then you have to speak continuously without noticeable pauses. To practice, let’s consider the following cue card that was recently asked to a student in the exam:
Describe something you have always wanted to buy.
What it is
For how long you have wanted it
Why do you like it
Do you think you will buy it someday?
Sample Answer:
The one thing I have always wanted to purchase is a high-end camera. Ever since my childhood, I have been fascinated by photography, and owning a professional camera has been a dream of mine for over 15 years. The idea of capturing beautiful moments, stunning landscapes, and emotions through the lens of a powerful camera excites me immensely.
What I particularly like about cameras is their ability to freeze a moment in time, preserving memories that can be cherished forever. I have always been passionate about photography and constantly read about the latest camera models and features in magazines and online reviews. Each time I see a captivating photograph taken by a professional camera, my desire to own one becomes stronger.
I believe that having my own camera will not only allow me to pursue my passion for photography but also grant me the freedom to express myself artistically. Being able to control the camera settings, experiment with different lenses, and capture unique perspectives will provide a sense of empowerment and fulfillment.
At present, I am in a financially stable position, and I feel that I am capable of buying the camera of my dreams in the near future. As soon as I save up enough money and find the perfect model that suits my needs, I plan to make my dream come true and finally own a high-end camera. It will not only be a valuable tool for my passion but also a medium through which I can document precious moments of my life and share them with others.
In conclusion, a high-end camera has been a long-standing desire of mine due to my passion for photography and the creative possibilities it offers. With the financial means and determination, I am confident that I will be able to purchase it someday and embark on a fulfilling journey in the world of photography.
