Let’s analyze and rewrite the response to the IELTS speaking cue card about the candidate’s best friend.
IELTS Speaking Cue Card:
Talk about your best friend. Please say:
Who is he/she?
When did you both meet for the first time?
What do you usually do together?
Explain why you consider her as your best friend.
Sample Answer:
I would like to talk about my best friend, Rima Shetty, who has been by my side since our school days. Currently, she works as a software developer for an IT company based in Panipat. Our friendship began back in 2002 when we were in class 11. On her first day at our school, she couldn’t find an empty seat, and I happened to be sitting alone as my usual friend was absent. I invited her to sit with me and introduced myself. From that moment on, our friendship blossomed and has continued to this day.
Whenever we have some free time, we enjoy meeting up at a coffee shop and spending hours chatting about our daily lives. During weekends, we often plan to watch movies together at the nearby Multiplex cinema.
I consider Rima my best friend because she has always been there for me during difficult times. Whenever I needed support, she never hesitated to boost my spirits. She is incredibly honest and trustworthy, which are qualities I value in a friend. Her loyalty and kindness make her the perfect companion, and that is why I hold her in such high regard.
Useful Tips:
– Include factual information about your best friend, such as their name (Rima Shetty), profession (software developer), and workplace (Panipat), to provide context.
– Use connectives to link your ideas together, such as “It just happened that,” “From then onwards,” or “Moreover.”
– Enhance your speaking by using descriptive adjectives like “extremely honest,” “trustworthy,” “kind-hearted,” or “benevolent” to add value to your descriptions.
