The contemporary education system fosters a sense of competition among students, but unfortunately, it often discourages them from helping their weaker peers. In my opinion, the disadvantages of this approach outweigh the benefits. Collaborative learning and support for struggling students can yield more positive outcomes, enabling children to develop well-rounded qualities.

In today’s highly competitive world, the emphasis on winning at any cost can undermine a student’s intrinsic motivation. This unhealthy competition can have adverse effects on young minds. For instance, a study by the American Academy of Pediatrics revealed that approximately 80% of school children prioritized outperforming their peers rather than improving their own previous grades. Consequently, those who couldn’t surpass their classmates may experience feelings of resentment and damage their self-esteem.

Furthermore, the current trend encourages students to isolate themselves and refrain from assisting weaker classmates, leading to a sense of selfishness and self-centeredness. In contrast, in the past, students used to study in groups, benefitting both average and intelligent students alike. This collaborative approach not only promoted a sense of team spirit but also instilled cooperation as a valuable trait. Such qualities contributed to the personal growth of students, molding them into better individuals and responsible citizens of the country. Unfortunately, the present trend might have a negative impact on society and families of the students.

In conclusion, the hyper-competitive environment has more drawbacks than advantages. It is essential for parents and teachers to address this issue and promote a healthier learning atmosphere. Encouraging cooperation and support among students will not only benefit the weaker individuals but also foster a more secure and confident generation for the future.
