Recent Exam Question asked in IELTS Speaking Task 2 and IELTS Speaking Task 3 on 6th May 2017

Question asked by the Examiner for IELTS Speaking Task 2:

Topic: Punctuality

Talk about a punctual person you know. Please say:

– Where you know him/her from?

– What does he/she do to keep track of time?

– Why do you think punctuality is important?

Sample Answer for IELTS Speaking Task 2 according to IELTS Band 7:

I would like to tell you about one of my professors from my post-graduation days. Her name was Ms. Asha Tanwar, and she used to teach Micro Economics in my university. Ms. Tanwar was known for being very strict and punctual.

She always wore a watch, and that was her way of keeping track of time. I never saw her without her watch; it seemed like an essential part of her attire. Apart from being an excellent teacher, she also emphasized the value of time to her students. She taught us that time is invaluable, and while we cannot possess it, we can make the best use of it.

In my opinion, punctuality is of utmost importance in life. Starting the day on time puts you in a positive frame of mind and helps develop a sense of responsibility. Opportunities favor those who respect and value time. In conclusion, I firmly believe that punctuality is the foundation of success.

Discussion for IELTS Speaking Task 3 based on the above question asked:

Question 1. Can you describe yourself as a punctual person?

Answer: Well, I always strive to be punctual. However, living in a city with unavoidable traffic issues can sometimes make it challenging. Despite this, I firmly believe that no excuse can exempt us from the principles of punctuality. So, I make efforts to schedule my activities with punctuality in mind.

Question 2. How do you feel when people keep you waiting?

Answer: It is not a pleasant experience when people keep me waiting. However, I try to understand the reason behind the delay. If someone is consistently late, it may indicate poor time management skills, especially in professional settings. Nonetheless, for personal appointments, I tend to be more forgiving and understanding.

Question 3. Do you feel bad if you are late?

Answer: Yes, I feel terrible when I am late because I know it can inconvenience others. If I happen to be late for any reason, I always apologize and try to make up for it as best as I can.
