Waiting for someone or something is a common experience we all encounter in our lives. Allow me to share a particular instance when I had to wait for someone special.
It was my birthday, and I had organized a gathering at a coffee house to celebrate with friends from my church youth group. The plan was to meet at 8 o’clock in the evening. Filled with excitement, I arrived early at the venue, expecting my friends to arrive shortly after. However, as time passed, none of them showed up. Initially, I understood since I had arrived early, but after waiting for half an hour, I started to feel a bit uneasy and concerned. Losing my patience, I decided to call each of them to inquire about their whereabouts. To my surprise, none of them answered their phones. I was disheartened and frustrated because it was my special day, and my friends seemed to have forgotten.
With my patience waning, I made up my mind to leave. Just as I called the waiter for the bill, I heard the sound of “Happy Birthday” being sung in the coffee house. Suddenly, all my friends appeared, holding a birthday cake and wearing huge smiles. They had planned a surprise for me! The initial disappointment transformed into joy and laughter. We spent an unforgettable night, chatting, sipping coffee, and savoring the cake together.
Overall, though I had to wait longer than expected, the surprise my friends prepared made it a birthday celebration I will always cherish.
