A student who took the IELTS Speaking exam in February shared the Part 1 questions asked by the examiner. Examiner: What is your name?

Student: My name is Rohit Verma.

Examiner: Are you studying or working?

Student: I am currently studying in the final year of my graduation program. I’m pursuing a 3-year degree in Bachelor of Arts at the prestigious Delhi University.

Examiner: Which is your favorite subject?

Student: I particularly enjoy economics among all the subjects. It deals with studying GDP, consumerism, finance, wealth, banking, and more. Economics focuses on how people use resources in real-life situations. Because of its practicality and relevance to my life, I find this subject fascinating.

Examiner: Why do you like this subject?

Student: As I mentioned earlier, economics is closely related to real-life financial situations. The principles and concepts taught in this subject are valuable for solving practical financial problems. I believe that learning economics will be highly beneficial for me in handling financial matters in the future.

Examiner: Why did you choose to study in your chosen discipline?

Student: I opted for Bachelor of Arts because I have a keen interest in subjects like history, geography, and economics. Acquiring knowledge in these subjects will help me prepare for the civil services exam, which is my ultimate career goal. Additionally, I find subjective courses more enjoyable, even in my free time. When I study these subjects, it never feels like a burden; instead, I take pleasure in learning more and more about them.
